Acting Wild by Maria Birmingham (35)

This is a hilarious book about how we behave like birds, bugs and beasts. It is a book that kids of all ages will love and adore.

We are all animals. We are just upright animals with intelligence. This would make us different from most insects and animals. But there is a real similarity between us too.

Humans get a bit snotty about our place in the natural world. We believe that we are so superior. But really, we are not! The truth is, we’re animals, just like the creatures around us. And we have a lot in common.

Like the beaver, we build shelters to keep ourselves safe and warm, like the chimp, we use tools to make our jobs easier, and like the spider, we prefer to get places faster than our own two (or eight) legs can carry us.

With the feisty ant as narrator, this book proves that from teaching to playing to grieving and beyond, animals and humans are actually birds of a feather.

Well, maybe….LOL.

The illustrations are hilarious and colorful, bringing the message of the book home for kids of all ages.

I can see this book used for school assignments and much more.
