Saskatchwan is nicknamed Canada’s Breadbasket because its the Nation’s leading producer of wheat.
Saskatchewan is also home to North America’s Oldest bird sanctuary. In Saskatchewan, Pelicans, ducks, and Canada Geese are free from hunters.
There are a lot of wide open spaces in Saskatchewan. They have large prairie dogs. There are also Buffalo and Beavers in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan’s natural resources are the basis of many jobs. Miners unearth precious metals. Canola, flax seed and barley are also important to Saskatchewan. The province also has sunflowers, canary seed, and mustard seed during years when whet prices are low. Farmers make up about sixteen percent of the workforce in Saskatchewan. A lot of money is therefore spent on farm equipment.
Saskatchewan also has a popular Verna Festival where Ukrainian dancers wearing traditional dresses entertain crowds of people. I think I will have to visit Manitoba because I am Ukrainian and would love to see the folk dancers. Who knows, maybe they will allow a newbie like me to join in for a few steps!
Compared to other Canadian provinces, Saskatchewan has a small population and a few large cities.
