Who would have thought that someone like Debbie Travis, from the Painted House, would feel so miserable and unfulfilled? Well, I sure never would have.
This book shows us how we can get lost in our routines to such an extent that when we wake up we feel empty and unhappy, despite the fact of having all the riches and respect in the world!
This is a book for our time, given that we are all lost in our routines. I mean, how many of us really sit down and assess our lives, much less ask ourselves if we are happy and content?
Many of us go through life on autopilot. We get up, go to work, and come home. And some of our careers are very valuable and helpful to others, as Debbie Travis’ was and still is. She is the painter par excellence. But as she shows in her eye-opening book, all of the fame and prestige as well as respect in the world doesn’t guarantee that we will be happy and fulfilled. Neither does it follow that we will be carving out the life that we really want to.
I believe that more unconscious we are, the more conceivable it is that we will feel unsatisfied and unhappy. On the other hand, the more aware and conscious we are, the more of a chance we have of living a happy life of our dreams.
Yes, we all have to dream of our destinies. This is not something reserved for a few. However, we need time and space to dream. We can’t be stuck in our everyday affairs to dream. And dreaming isn’t only for kids, as many of us believe. Dreaming is for all of us. Dreaming can help us pave the way to a life that is meaningful and bright.
We only have one trip down this road called life. We must ensure that it is the path that we chose and not something that we fell into because others were doing similar things or perhaps it is a path that our parents wanted us to take up. We must live our own lives, and Debbie Travis’ book will show you how to do so.
I loved this book. I read the book over the Christmas holiday. It is a great book to read to start the year off afresh.
Happy New Year all! May we all review some brilliant titles this year!
