Remembrance Day by Jill Foran (87)

This is another book that will qualify for the mini-challenge for this month in the Canadian Book Review Challenge.  I will be reading and reviewing a few such books over the next week.

This is another children’s book about Remembrance Day.  It is a book that is very informative and inspiring. It will help kids understand the perils of war and how we have so much to lose when we are at war in innocent lives and people’s health.

There is always so much to learn about Remembrance Day and the various wars. For instance, I had no idea that 116,000 Canadians died while serving in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War.  I knew quite a few Canadians were deployed. But I had no idea that there were so many Canadians who lost their lives. I sure do now!

This book discusses the Great War, Times to Remember, A poem for the fallen that is breathtaking, and what our symbols of remembrance are. I had no idea that there are Remembrance Day crafts. That is simply amazing.

The book ends with a quiz that kids can take to test their knowledge of remembrance day after they have read the book.

This book is complete and informative. It too can be used for class projects in history and geography.
