The Book of Blessence by Ione Grover (24)

I decided to read a few books by Ione Grover.  She is such a wonderful writer. I just am transfixed by her style and depth. And this book is no exception.

This is a book of poems. She has never apparently written poems.  She wrote them in her 80th year!  Like WOW!!!!  But I must say, that I would certainly write more poems if I wrote them as well as she does. What a GREAT book!!

In this book, Ione asks some unanswerable questions.  Ione reflects on the mystery of nature, friendship, love, old age, death, and inner being as she seeks to understand her own life, as well as life in general.

The theme of oneness and unity permeates her poetry. She believes that from a spiritual perspective, we are all one with nature, each other, and the Universe and the Divine. What a wonderful idea–something to ponder for a very long time.

I love these big questions!!!  Being a philosopher, I find myself drawn more and more to questions like the ones that Ione reflects on in this book of poetry.  Perhaps our older years give us more depth and philosophical perspective, and perhaps even more of a spiritual perspective.

Thank you Ione for such a wonderful book!  I hope you write more books in the future. I will certainly be on the look out for them.
