Why Do Families Change? Our First Talk about Separation and Divorce By Jillian Roberts (221)

This is an important picture book for kids about an important topic: separation and divorce

Given that so many families split up and end up torn apart for all kinds of reasons, kids find themselves between different homes and parents each weekend. This can be very hard for children and parents.

Separation and divorce are difficult for everyone. However, for young children, when a parent splits up or ends up getting divorced, they sometimes end up blaming themselves or are unsure of their place in the family when these events occur. They feel lost and unsure of themselves. This is especially when kids have to be introduced to step parents because their parent has remarried.

This is a book that will open discussion about two important topics give our current ubiquity of divorce and separation.

This book will empower parents and caregivers to start conversations with young ones about these difficult topics early on. I also believe that this book will empower kids by giving them the information that they need when separation and divorce touch their lives.
