Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among us by Robert D. Hare (118)

This is an important book about the reality of sociopaths in our midst.  They may be disguised as people without feeling and empathy. But there is so much more that is disturbing about them. This book will tell the reader everything that there is to know about what a sociopath really is.

Most people are repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless people who increasingly populate our movies, television programs, and newspaper headlines.

Yet there are ordinary people in our midst who are sociopaths who never killed people or were caught doing anything wrong. These are the people who cause a lot of hurt and harm to ordinary people who trust these people until it is well…to late and they are in way too deep.

Sociopaths are con artists, hustlers, rapists, and other predators who charm, lie, and manipulate their way through life.

But there are more subtle sociopath that you may find at work, in your community, and if you are really not lucky, as your spouse.

Dr. Hare’s book will help the reader to protect themselves against such individuals. He even has a chapter entitled Survival Guide which is invaluable for the individual who is always in the midst of a sociopath. These people are vampires who love to hurt other people, and especially their esteem and self-confidence.

I love this topic because I am in the middle of several research projects that center on the topic of sociopathy. It is a topic that is not only intriguing me but that I am learning a lot about!
