Nana’s Summer Surprise (139)

This is a super-fun picture book that is written by Heather Hartt-Sussman and illustrated by Georgia Graham. It is a book that kids of all ages will enjoy and relish.

What could be more enchanting than a summer at the lake house with Mom, Dad, Nana, Gramps, and Hortense?

While the little boy dreams of berry-picking and building sand castles, the fun is spoiled as soon as Hortense steps off the bus. Not only does she look different, but her interested have drastically changed too.

The possibilities for a fun-filled summer are shattered in a moment until the little boy and Hortense finally bond over a secret surprise. What could this surprise be? Can they stay friends forever?

This is a book about how it is possible to make friends with even the most least unlikely people.

I loved this book the most in the Hortense series. I think it is so appealing to kids of that age. And it doesn’t have the same kind of angst either, in my opinion.
