Chester (33)

51NUF4NbobL._SX424_BO1,204,203,200_[1]I discovered a new Canadian picture book author who I am very impressed about.  You see, I write picture books too. So, I am always interested in picture books by Canadian authors which are different. And Melanie Watt’s books are indeed very different.

For those of you who don’t know much about Melanie, she is an author from Quebec, although her family has moved to many cities in Canada, including Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto. Melanie also illustrates all of her books. Melanie currently lives near Montreal, Quebec. She is the author and illustrator of several books for children, including Leon the Chameleon, the Learning with Animals Collection, and most recently Scaredy Squirrel–which I will be reviewing soon.

This book is even more unique that any of the others that I have been reading. It is written in a very humorous and enchanting way. It will keep kids reading and turning those pages quickly. And it will be a book that kids will want read and re-read as a bedtime story.  It makes for a great story.

It is a story about Chester who keeps doodling on and rewriting her story with his annoying red marker. How is she supposed to deal with this cat upstaging her at every turn? She needs to think of a way to put an end to this before he completely takes over. Can she do it?
