This book is his second memoir. His first memoir called Waging Heavy Peace became an international bestseller.
Now in this memoir, Young fashioned a second work of extraordinary reminiscences about his Canadian boyhood, his musical influences, his family, the rock and roll life and one of his deepest passions: cars. No wonder we always saw him beside a car when he sang in videos. I was always wondering about that. But I should have guessed!
Neil Young discusses his passion of cars in a lot of detail in this book. But he also honestly looks at the impact on the environment of such cars. He has a ferocious devotion to clean energy. He became a proponent of smaller cars that are not gas guzzlers.
This book is written almost like a song. It flows and ebbs. It is a great read and I would recommend it to all the members of the Canadian Book Mine Reading Group.
