Groundhog Day (78)

Groundhog Day
By Lynn Peppas

This is a wonderfully informational picture book for kids about groundhog day. It is colourful and insightful. I just love the illustrations. They are so realistic depicting groundhogs in their natural habitats.

This book discusses everything about groundhog day from how groundhogs live and hibernate, to how their live in their burrows all winter. The book also includes some fun facts about the life of groundhogs and groundhog day such as that Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions only were right 39 percent of the time. The book also discusses where all the groundhog celebrations take place and that one of the biggest ones is in Wiarton Ontario. I know that kids would love to know all the other celebrations that take place during this day too. In fact, the celebrations go on for a whole week!

What a great and informative book published by Crabtree Publishing.
