Pierre (73)

By Nancy Southam

This is a marvelous book about Pierre Elliott Trudeau, a man who has fascinated many people for decades. He is one of these figures that no one can forget. And this book brings all of these stories back to the fore of my memory.
The book also includes a forward by his son Justin Trudeau.

In these book, colleagues and friends of Trudeau’s talk about what they knew about him. Some of the stories are touching and hilarious. The reader will feel transported by the stories and all of Trudeau’s life events. What a wonderful man he was!

The Editor of this book, Nancy Southam, was a close friend of his over his lifetime. She gathered 150 reminiscences and anecdotal narratives about him from all over the globe. Among the contributors are: Monique Begin, Conrad Black, Jimmy Carter, Jean Chretien, Joe Clark, Leonard Cohen, Jim Coutts, Joyce Fairbairn, John Kenneth Galbraith, Ivan head, and many others. These stories are accompanied by over 100 photographs and illustrations, some of them published for the first time.

This is a book that should be read by all Canadians who loved and didn’t know much about Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
