Humphrey and His Not So Lonely Shell-Lesley Biehn (43)

This is a GREAT picture book for kids about an important topic: loneliness.

Many kids feel lonely–and some feel very lonely. This is now reaching epidemic proportions in our culture and times.  Some kids feel lonely because they are shy and cannot bring themselves to talk or interact with others. Other kids are lonely because they can’t seem to find anyone that they are compatible with.

If you have every been lonely, this book is for you. Humphrey discovers that there is a whole world outside of his shell. All he has to do is poke his little head out and take in some of the fresh air and try to connect with others.

Is this possible to do?  Oh yes.  Is this hard to do at first?  Yes, it is very, very hard.  But with a bit of courage and self-confidence, we can all achieve this, one small step at a time.

What a GREAT message for kids!
