More Joy in Heaven (91)

More Joy in Heaven
By Morley Callaghan

This book is one of the GREAT’s by a Canadian author. It is very hard to read and to get through though! I found it moving in places, but also a bit boring. But I read it for the Canadian Book Review Challenge. It is good to read books like this to make sure that you have the discipline to finish them.

I don’t usually read in this genre. I love to read uplifting books, ones that are inspiring and move one to be the best that she can be. This book just didn’t leave me with that kind of bubbly feeling.

The book is based on a real-life character. But the story line about the release of a bank-robber released early from prison is both gripping and tragic. I was captivated by the story line. But I felt a bit overwhelmed and depressed by the end of it.

Oh well…now I will turn to reading books which are much more uplifting and inspiring.
