My Journey, By Olivia Chow (68)

This is a wonderful book by a very inspiring lady who has gone through so much in her life. I was captivated by the book. It made me laugh and cry in places. It was one of those books that you couldn’t put down. I started reading it at 8 pm. and didn’t stop until 2 am.

The book is a memoir of Olivia Chow. She talks about how her parents migrated to Canada and how Toronto became her true home. She talks about her political life and how difficult it was. And she talks about her wonderful marriage to NDP leader Jack Layton. Jack Layton’s life was shortened by a terrible disease which she has tried to get her mind around.

Since his death in 2011, she has tried to make a life for herself. And this memoir shows the reader all the ups and downs that she went through and still does in many ways. But she has come such a long way. She is such a courageous and inspiring woman, one that all women who read the book will be able to be moved by.

It can be hard to re-weave your life after the death of a spouse that you truly love and cherish. But it is possible, despite the pain, tears, depression, and heartache.

Thank you Olivia Chow for such a wonderful book!  I am SO proud of you!
