Another Review of a New Book by Ruth Ohi (50)

Kenta and the Big Wave
Ruth Ohi

This is a wonderful picture book about the tsunami and how devastating it is especially for kids.

This story is about Kenta, a small boy. He lives in a small village in Japan and when the tsunami hit, he lost his most prized possession, a soccer ball. But he tries to take the things that really matter to him before they have to evacuate. But the soccer ball got swept away by the waves, and got swished away.

Will Kenta ever get his ball back?

This book is inspired by a true story. It has a reassuring message of home and kindness in the midst of tragedy.
