Mr. King’s Castle by Genevieve Cote (34)

51OE+Dkg1GL._SX258_PJlook-inside-v2,TopRight,1,0_SH20_BO1,204,203,200_This is a GREAT picture book by an award-winning author and illustrator from Montreal Canada.

This book shows kids that bigger is not always better. Sometimes smaller works just as well and it could give us even more happiness.

Mr. King in the story loves big castles. So, he sets out to build one. But in the process, he looses his beautiful view.  In addition, his friends lose a lot of their comforts too. With help and encouragement, Mr. King learns that small things can also bring much happiness.

In this culture of greed, this is a very important book. Kids can be encouraged to look to the smaller and more meaningful things of life such as sharing and having friends. But also nature is an important addition to our life. It would seem that the more we have, the less we see what’s important and beautiful.

Thank you Genevieve for such a wonderful picture book with such a GREAT message!
