Canadian Shield: The Rocks that Made Canada by Nick Eyles (16)

The Canadian Shield was named in 1883. It consists of an empty immensity of lakes, bogs, rivers, forests, and protruding ribs of hard rock covering more than half of Canada.

it is regarded as barren and of no value. However, after reading this book, the reader will see that this is not true at all. The shield was given away in 1670 to a single fur-trading company, the Hudson Bay Company.  However, the Shield is seeped in history and beauty. And the Hudson Bay Company made sure that the shield was not acquired by Americans.

This book is a wonderful panoramic portrait of the Canadian Shield. The photographs are stunning and they will show the reader what a vast land Canada really is from east to west through the eyes of three Canadian photographers.
