Unjunk Your Junk Food: Healthy Alternatives to Conventional Snacks
By Andrea Donsky and Randy Boyer

The authors believe that we can get our junk food without eating all the unhealthy stuff. We don’t have to give up what we love to eat the best. We just have to make smart choices. The authors reviewed hundreds of conventional natural and organic snacks in search of the healthiest alternatives for the treats we love. That’s how this book was born.

There are no shortcuts to eating healthy. We just have to know how to decipher the nutrition labels on our favourite junk food to know whether or not we should eat them. Many of our favourite junk foods are filled with artificial, unhealthy, and sometimes dangerous ingredients.

There are many healthier junk foods made without chemical preservatives, food colourings, artificial flavours, fructose, corn syrup, and trans fat. We don’t have to sacrifice on taste either. What a great message for parents and kids alike. It is nice to know that we don’t have to avoid all junk food all the time in order to be healthy. All we have to do is to learn which one is the best one for us.

What a gem of a book by two Canadian authors from Ontario, Canada. Both specialize in nutrition and wellness. They are cofounders of NaturallySavvy.com, one of the web’s most popular and trusted resources for living a natural, organic, and green lifestyle. It was a joy to read the book.
