Princess Reborn: Chapter 1
By Lee Tidball
This is an excellent graphic novel for kids 10-13 years old. The story balances action, suspense, drama and humour. It is a rare balance to achieve in a novel of this kind. But the author has achieved this.
In addition, the story will appeal to tweens because it is absolutely a topic that they will be able to relate to. The story is about a fractured family who finds new unity and purpose after going through a tough time. And how many families don’t go through a tough time, huh? Most do constantly!
The story is about Lari, a typical teen who struggles with school bullies and family secrets. A terrible evil is unleashed onto the world and Lari’s life. It is a dark nemesis from her Mom’s past. It is full of revenge and hopelessness. But through her courage, independence, curiosity, intelligence and bravery, Lari emerges a hero. And perhaps because of her struggles she is reborn to become the victorious hero that she becomes. What an inspiring story!
Since bullying is running so rampant in our schools currently, it is a very important educational tool for school administrators and teachers. Kids will also be moved by Lari’s persistence, tenacity and courage. I think this book should be on every school curriculum because of its important lessons.
