Enough

This is a wonderfully written Ukranian folktale. The picture book is about a poor family that lived on a farm near the Village of Zhitya in the Ukraine. Their farm was so small that many times their wheat harvest wasn’t enough to keep them fed. Many times, they were hungry.
Then one day a stork flied up to their farm and brought then the kind of luck they never had before. Finally they had enough food! What a great and hopeful story written by a Canadian author from Ontario Canada! I loved it and my niece was entranced by it. She wants me to read it to her every night before bed so that she can be appreciative about what she has.
The illustrations are colourful, vivid, and realistic. The illustrator is very well aware of Ukrainian culture and clothes very intimately since he portrays the life and times in the Ukraine very accurately. My niece absolutely loved the clothes and the expressions on the people’s faces.
Being Ukrainian myself, I can honestly say that it is a greatly educational book about the old Ukrainian landscapes and poverty they lived through. It will show the young reader a bit about the historical background of the Ukrainian people.
What a gem of a book!
